January 2022 Update

With a New Year comes new enhancements and updates to the Express Evaluations! We have been hard at work making the changes that are most important to you, while also laying the groundwork for additional enhancements coming in 2022.

Here is a quick summary of the improvements released this past week:

1. Improved People Organization

These changes are laying the building blocks for more employee organization options in the future.

  • Employees will be directly assigned to a manager and can belong to a different team from their manager.
  • You will now be able to assign teams AND departments to your employees, giving you greater flexibility with schedules and reports
  • On the People page, you now have the option to see & create new teams, departments, and locations in new tabbed views

We have migrated your teams and manager assignments into the new structure, so no additional work is needed on your end. However, we recommend that you update teams and managers throughout the year, especially right before starting a new evaluation period.

2. Brand New Evaluation Scheduler

A new look and new capabilities, with even more enhancements coming in the next couple months.

The new and improved Evaluation Schedule table

Assigning employees to evaluations has a new design and function – Instead of assigning an entire team, you’ll select individual employees by choosing a groupings of teams, departments, job title, etc. Our goal here is to make things as simple and transparant as possible. When selecting an employee group, you’ll be able to see exactly which employees fit the criteria, and can even remove individual employees if needed. If you miss someone, or need to remove some- No problem. Just edit the schedule and remove them from the list.

3. Improvements to Hire Date/Work Anniversary Assignments

We’ve simplified the way that hire date and work anniversary assignments happen, allowing you to create an Evaluation Period for up to a one-year period, then settings to select when your selected employees will be asked to complete their evaluation.

Evaluations based off Hire Date – Employees must meet BOTH criteria:

  1. Hire date falls within the Evaluation Period timeframe set on the schedule
  2. Employee must be assigned to the evaluation

If an employee is assigned to the evaluation, but does not have a hire date within the Evaluation Period timeframe, they will not be assigned the evaluation.

Evaluations based off Anniversary Date – Employees must meet BOTH criteria:

  1. Anniversary date falls within the Evaluation Period timeframe set on the schedule
    • New hire’s will be excluded.
  2. Employee must be assigned to the evaluation

If an employee is assigned to the evaluation, but does not have an anniversary date within the Evaluation Period timeframe, they will not be assigned the evaluation.

4. Reduced # of email notifications

That’s right, no more redundant emails at the start of a review cycle 🙌

Nightly email jobs will now only send 1 email per day – By grouping emails that go out on a daily basis, we can make our communication more effective and prevent email fatigue for managers who already have a lot on their plates.

5. Updated logic on how Evaluation Statuses and Signature statuses are being handled

Most importantly, we’ve improved how we display and surface how many feedback requests are assigned, and how many signature requests are outstanding/completed.

6. Additional updates released in the past couple weeks, also worth noting:

Updates to Goals! 🎉

  • You can now include a section to review the employee’s current goals during the self/manager evaluation.
  • Additionally, you can include a section for the employee and manager to create new goals for the upcoming review cycle.
  • Either option can be enabled when creating an evaluation schedule. Reach out to us if you want to enable goals for your organization!
